Test-Driven MBSE: a Reference Case Study on a Glucose Monitor
The concept of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is typically well received by the systems engineers. But when trying to adopt MBSE in practice, they struggle with insufficient guidance and lack of a concise approach on how to consistently apply MBSE for incremental development of complex systems that are safety-critical and require careful verification and validation activities during all stages of the engineering process. This session presents an approach on applying MBSE according to the principles of Test-Driven Development (TDD) that enable ensuring high quality in an incremental systems engineering process. This approach is demonstrated through a reference case study on glucose monitoring system that was built in collaboration between Abbott Diabetes Care and No Magic. The approach is made possible to apply in practice due to the recent improvements in Cameo Systems Modeler (CSM) and Cameo Simulation Toolkit (CSM) that enable execution of system models, generation of test case interactions and re-executing them for regression testing.
