Just Enough DoDAF
The Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) 2.0 specifies over 50 models that may be created when using the framework. The DoDAF only provides the framework, the architect still must choose a methodology, syntax, and tool in order to build the DoDAF described models. This presents many challenges to the new (and experienced) DoDAF modeler. This presentation describes an approach to meeting stakeholder needs by creating “just enough” DoDAF models using UPDM and SysML. Insights are presented based on personal experience from multiple project stakeholder perspectives and center on three key facets of architecture development: stakeholder analysis, identification of operational needs, and design of the logical system.
