Presentation Abstract

Bridging the Gap from MBSE to Architecture and Hardware Design

  • Speaker: Bob Potock - Zuken Corporation
  • When: Day 2 : Monday May 22nd
  • This session will summarize the progress made today in the product development process using hardware modules as the basis for design, simulation, requirement traceability and ultimately field performance metrics. Module based design is the methodology that enables the connection from MBSE to hardware architecture design and ultimately detailed design.

The adoption of modular design by the hardware design community is gaining momentum and may prove to be the bridge for MBSE. Hardware architecture design can use corporate functional blocks to construct a system level representation with product requirements traceability. The proposed architecture can be verified for function, mechanical fit, PCB optimization and parametric. The optimized architecture can then seamlessly move into detailed design maintaining requirement to block traceability. The block design quality, through IoT connectivity, can also be quantified. Gathering field performance data against the block can provide predictive failure data.
