Presentation Abstract

An Introduction to MBSE with SysML

  • Speaker: Sanford Friedenthal - MBSE Consultant
  • When: Day 1 : Sunday May 21st
  • Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) formalizes the practice of systems engineering through the use of models. This tutorial introduces the OMG Systems Modeling Language (OMG SysML™) and some of the key language concepts needed to represent the requirements, behavior, structure and parametric aspects of a system. The tutorial also includes an introduction to an MBSE method that leverages SysML to support the specification, architecture design, and analysis of systems.

The tutorial format is a slide presentation with some class exercises. Magic Draw is used by the instructor to demonstrate how the tool can be used to support MBSE, but this tutorial is not intended to provide tool training. The course material is significantly drawn from the book entitled "A Practical Guide to SysML", which the instructor co-authored. This book provides a detailed reference for people who choose to learn more about MBSE using SysML.
